Waste, what does that have to do with my tiles?
Tiles often have to be cut when they are laid in rooms, which results in waste.
How much waste is created depends on many reasons. If the room to be tiled has many corners and / or curves, the waste increases. If you plan to lay your tiles diagonally, or lay them in a bond, the waste will also increase.
Area to be tiled in m² +% waste = actually required m²
- Normal space with straight installation / 6-8% waste
- Normal space with diagonal installation or in bond / 10 - 14% waste
- Room with many corners when laid straight / 12-15% waste
- Room with many corners with diagonal / bonded laying / 12 - 17% waste
These details are purely indicative, which may vary .
IMPORTANT:
It doesn't hurt either if you buy one or two packages in reserve! If a renovation is due in a few years, or you have to lay a line, you have the right tiles ready
can mend it perfectly.
